Deputy trade and commerce minister, Mozamil Shinwari on Monday told reporters that a delegation of the Afghan officials will visit Russia in the near future to finalize the deal.
Mr. Shinwari further added that sanctions against Iran has affected the fuel prices and supply in Afghanistan, and the government of Afghanistan has decided to purchase fuel from Russia to meet the demands of the Afghan people.
He said the agreement which will be inked between Russian and Afghan officials will pave the way for the purchase of fuel by both Afghan government and private companies, who will import diesel and petrol fuel from Russia.
The Afghanistan chamber of commerce and industries welcomed the decision by Afghan government and urged that the fuel should be purhcased only by the government of Afghanistan in a bid to have control over fuel prices in the market.
Khan Jan Alokozai, vice chairman of the Afghanistan chamber of commerce and industries said the private sector should be introduced to supply the fuel in Afghan markets once the purchase agreement is signed between Russia and Afghanistan.
