Afghanistan probes alleged training of Syrian rebelsAfghan president Hamid Karzai on Saturday said that the government of Afghanistan will investigate regarding alleged trainings of the Syria militants in Afghanistan.

While speaking during a press conference after meeting with the US Secretary of State John Kerry, president Karzai said that the issue will be shared with the security institutions and the allies of the Afghan government for further clarification.

This comes as the Russian foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov on Friday claimed that militants are being trained in Afghanistan to participate in Syrian war against president Bashar Al Assad.

Sergei Lavrov said the training of the militants to be deployed to Syria has recently started in areas of Afghanistan which are not under the control of the Afghan government.

Mr. Lavrov further added that the militants are also trained on how to carry out chemical attacks. “Based on our information, the Al-Nusra front is looking to illegally transport chemical and poisonous materials to Iraq,” Lavrov told reporters.

He said the training of the militants in Afghanistan is provided by a third country, however, he did not disclose further information regarding the name of the country which was involved behind the training of the militants.
