The Afghanistan National cricket Team will play 5 One Day International (ODI) matches, 3 Twent20 International (T20I), and a test match against Ireland starting from 21st of next month.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in a statement said Afghanistan Cricket Board will host Ireland for a month-long series of three T20Is, five ODIs and one Test match from 21st February – 19th March 2019 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, India.

The statement further added that the Test match will be the first between ICC’s new Full Members after obtaining Test status in 2017; Afghanistan’s inaugural Test match came against India whilst Ireland played Pakistan in their first Test match. The Irish side arrives in India on 18th February.

The T20I matches will be played on 21st, 23rd, and 24th of February while the One Day International (ODI) matches will commence from 28th February with the second, third, fourth, and fifth scheduled for 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 10th of March.

The only test match between Afghanistan and Ireland will be played from 15yh to 19th of March, according to the fixtures announced by Afghanistan Cricket Board.

ACB Chief Executive Officer Shafiqullah Stanikzai welcomed the finalization of the itinerary and said: “Initially, we planned to conclude the series on 23rd March but keeping in mind the dates of the Indian Premier League in which three of Afghanistan’s main players will be participating, the dates were slightly adjusted and I would like to thank Cricket Ireland for honoring our request. The series will be important for Afghanistan as we are in the preparation stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and we are certain that both sides will play competitive cricket.”
