Afghanistan thrashes Ireland by 138 runs in opening ODI match

Played at Sharjah, the Ireland team won the toss and elected to field first, allowing the Afghan batsmen to start their batting innings.
Afghanistan had a slow start and lost the opening batsmen during the fourth and seventh over of the game but Rahmat Shah and Nasir Jamal’s half centuries the Afghan team to build a run scoring momentum despite the players in the middle order could not perform well.
Shah scored 50 runs from 75 balls while Nasir Jamal managed to score 53 runs from 63 balls but the Asghar Stanikzai could not play well and was bowled out after scoring only 2 runs with Mohammad Nabi who scored no run at all.
Rashid Khan also performed well and scored 48 runs from 49 balls while Gulbadin Naib scored 17 runs from 27 balls.
The Afghan team managed to score 238 runs by losing 9 wickets during the 50 overs of the game and set a target of 239 runs for Ireland.
However, the Irish batsmen could not chase the given target and lost all their wickets by scoring 100 runs from 31 overs.
On the bowling side Mujeeb Zadran managed to take four wickets, Rashid Khan three wickets, Dawlat Zadran two wickets, and Mohammad Nabi one wicket.
