Chief fo the Jamiat-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that any solution to the Afghanistan problem without taking Pakistan on board will not be acceptable to the people.
JUI-F chief quoted by Pakistan’s The News International said he had clearly told the US ambassador that Pakistan was Afghanistan’s immediate neighbor which could not be changed.
The meeting with the US ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson was held on Friday a day after the JUI-F hosted All Parties Conference (APC) which emphasized negotiations with the Taliban.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, any decision about the future of Afghanistan could not be taken by sidelining Pakistan, because such a decision would not be acceptable to the people of both the countries.
While pointing towards the mess created after the departure of Soviet Union from Afghanistan, he said, the US had also come to Afghanistan for establishing peace, but even after passage of 10 years the situation was uncertain.
“If the US accepts its mistakes and wants to rectify these mistakes, we welcome this development,” the JUI-F chief said.
