Afghanistan secures first victory at 2024 Cricket World Cup

The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Uganda’s national team by 125 runs in their debut match at the 2024 Cricket World Cup.

The match concluded early this morning, Tuesday, June 4, in the West Indies.

The Afghan national players started the first match and set a target of 183 runs for the opposing team, Uganda, which they failed to achieve, managing only 58 runs in 16 overs.

Fazal Farooqi, a player from the national team, shined in this match and dismissed five players from the field.

It’s worth noting that this is Uganda’s first participation in the Cricket World Cup. Despite losing all its players, Uganda managed to score only 58 runs.

The national team is scheduled to face New Zealand on June 7.

The Afghanistan national cricket team and New Zealand, PNG, Uganda, and West Indies are also in Group C.
