KABUL, Afghanistan – The country has recorded 16 new positive cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health reported.

In total, at least 296 samples were taken for swap test and 16 turned positive, bringing the total positive cases nationwide to 39,186.

The country did not record any dead during the past 24 hours, according to the ministry.

From beginning of the outbreak, the county registered at least 39,186 infected patients, of which 32,619 are reported recovered.

While, 1,451 reported dead nationwide.

The country has so far tested 109,765 samples in government centers, and there are 5,116 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, according to data from the Ministry of Public Health.    

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 983,065 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 32,235,933, according to Johns Hopkins University.
