The foreign affairs ministry of Afghanistan denied reports regarding the interference of Iran in Afghanistan and rejected reports that Tehran was supporting anti-government armed militant groups of Afghanistan.
Janan Mosazai, spokesman for the foreign ministry of Afghanistan told reporters that Tehran has good relations with the government of Afghanistan.
This comes as a government official earlier accused Iran for supporting armed militant groups in Afghanistan to fight against the Afghan government.
However, Mosazai said that relations between Kabul and Tehran has further improved following the recent visit of president Hamid Karzai to Iran.
He said Afghanistan is keen to further improve its relations with the government of Iran, besides having good relations with Washington.
But provincial governor western Farah province of Afghanistan Mohammad Younus Rasooli said Thursday that Iran was supporting a large of insurgents, and has trained around 540 militants for insurgency activities in western Afghanistan.
Mr. Rasooli also claimed that evidences including video tapes have revealed that insurgents are being trained in Iranian soil.
