The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan (MoFA) reacted to the recent move by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran for summoning the Afghan envoy in Tehran over recent anti-Iran demonstrations by the Afghans.
According to a statement released by MoFA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran summoned Abdul Ghafoor Liwal, the Afghan Ambassador to Tehran, over recent demonstrations by the Afghans against Iran in some cities of Afghanistan.
The statement further added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran also lodged a protest with the Afghan envoy regarding the recent demonstrations.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoting Ambassador Liwal, added that the citizens of Afghanistan have the right to peacefully demonstrate, emphasizing that the protesters would face legal actions in the event they disrupt the public order.
The statement also added that a delegation would be sent to Iran in the near future to resolve the tensions between Kabul and Tehran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran on Saturday announced that the Afghan envoy to Tehran was summoned over recent discriminatory moves and the protest against the Iranian Embassy and the Iranian missions in Afghanistan.
The statement further added that certain circles are involved in the moves with an aim to harm the relations of the two nations under the pretext of the deaths of some Afghan nationals in Iran.
This comes as several Afghan nationals lost their lives in two specific incidents in Iran during the recent months with the Iranian forces blamed for the two deadly incidents, including the drowning of several Afghan immigrants in a river inside Iran.
