Afghanistan makes history by defeating West Indies in ICC World Cup T20

CricketAfghanistan defeated West Indies in International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup T20 and made another history in the world of cricket on Sunday.

West Indies won the toss and let Afghanistan to bat first.

Although, West Indies did better on the balling side but Afghanistan was able to secure 123 runs with losing seven players in 20 overs.

West Indies needed 124 runs to win the match but it was unable to hit the target.

It was only able to make 117 runs in 20 overs and lost the game to Afghanistan by 6 runs.

Asghar Stankizai thanked god and people for the win against such a strong team.

“Thanks to Allah and we are very thankful to the people of‪#‎Afghansitan for prayers and as always good wishes” Stanikzai said in a post on ‘facebook’.

It seems like besides ordinary people, top government officials including the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) were also looking forward for Afghanistan’s win and praying for it.

Soon after final ball of the match, which was holding back announcement of Afghanistan’s win, was played the social media overwhelmed with exciting messages.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani called it a ‘formidable win’.

“Congratulations Afghan National Cricket Team for the formidable win in #AFGvWI! Afghans are all proud of you.” President Ghani said in a post on his twitter account.

“Congratulations to #Afghanistan for the triumph over #West Indies. A very great example of best team effort.” CEO Abdullah Abdullah posted on his official twitter account. “Our boys made history in the #cricket world today. Our people are desperately waiting to receive their heroes with open arms.”
