UntitledAccording to reports, the Afghanistan national football team is likely to participate in a series of friendly matches against Pakistan next month.

The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) officials have said Pakistan is likely to host the series in the month of January.

The officials further added one of matches will be played in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan and the other match will be played in Lahore city.

The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) has not commented regarding the series so far. In the meantime, PFF officials are saying that Afghanistan is interested in playing a lone friendly match in Islamabad.

PFF secretary Ahmad Yar Khan Lodhi has said the tour dates will be finalised later. “We are trying to hold finalise the series and the dates will be confirmed later,” Lodhi told The Express Tribune.

He said “Afghanistan is certainly a better team than ours, but that is exactly the point.

According Lodhi, Pakistan is hosting the series in a bid to give the side further international exposure. “We want to bring the international sport to the country and provide opportunities for our players to improve, something we can’t achieve without playing with better teams,” he added.
