The Afghanistan national football team captain Faysal Shayesteh eyes victory against Singapore in the upcoming qualifier match for FIFA 2018 World Cup.
“We have come to Iran to defeat Singapore with the collaboration of spectators in the upcoming match,” Shayesteh said upon the arrival of the national football team to Iran for the qualifier match scheduled for Tuesday.
Shayesteh further added “At the moment, we are focused on our game with Singapore. We must beat our opponent with the support of our fans so that we can make to the next level.”
“I thank all those who voted for me, and we hope that we can recompense the love of our fans by defeating Singapore”. He expressed his idea about Afghanistan fans in Iran as well. He said that whenever they came to Iran, they felt as though they had come to their second home. Our fans are fond of football, and this motivates us and enhances our moral,” he added.
This comes as the Afghan football team was thrashed by Japan during a qualifier match hosted by Japan on Thursday.
The Japanese footballers managed to score 5 goals and seal a victory as the Afghan footballers could not open the goal of Japan during the 95-minute game.
