Monday, October 17, 2011 – Finance and budget commission of Afghan lower house decided to change the Afghan fiscal year from April to January.

According to reports the reason for the change is the prevention of non-executing development projects fund due to delays in annual budget approval by Afghan parliament.

Aziz Shams, the spokesman for Ministry of Finance Afghanistan supported the decision and said this is an effective decision.

This decision is made as the donor countries provide development project funds on January every year and it will help avoidance of delays as experience in past.
