The Afghanistan football team will face Philippines in its opening match at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup on Tuesday.
Officials in Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) said the Afghan football team has arrived to Maldives following the friendly match with Kuwait last week.
The officials further added that the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup will be organized from 19 to 30 May 2014 and the tournament will be hosted by Maldives.
Afghanistan will face Turkmenistan on 22 May and Laos on 24 May in the B Group, the officials said.
Afghanistan has so far played four friendly matches against Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kuwait in a bid to prepare for the AFC Challenge Cup.
The Afghanistan Football Federation Technical Director Tahir Raufi said Afghanistan football team is well prepared for the AFC Challenge cup and they are hopeful to have a good performance in the tournament.
