Afghanistan set a target of 230 runs for Ireland after they won the toss and elected to bat first
Afghanistan lost the two key opening batsmen in the early overs of the game as well as the middle order batsmen who could not create partnerships.
But the lower order batsmen helped to score runs for the Afghan team.
Mohammad Shahzad scored 22 runs, Noor Ali Zadran 10 runs, Rahma Shah 48 runs, Samiullah Shenwari 11 runs, Najiullah Zadran 3 runs, Mohammad Nabi 50 runs, Rashid Arman 60 runs, and Mirwwais Ashraf 14 runs.
The Ireland batsmen could not chase the given target after they lost the top order batsmen in the first 10 overs of the game but it was Paul Stirling and Kevin O’Brien who created partnership in the middle order, putting the Afghan team under pressure until the two batsmen were taken out of the game by Yamin Ahmadzai and Rashid Arman.
The Afghan bowlers managed to restrict the Ireland batsmen in 41st over of the game after they scored only 150 runs.
Rashid Arman took 4 wickeets, Rahmat Shah 2 wickets, Dawlat Zadran 1 wicket, and Yamin Ahmadzai 1 wicket on the bowling side.
