The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 45 runs during the first match of the bilateral Twenty20 International (T20I) series.

Afghanistan set a target of 168 runs after Bangladesh won the toss of the match and elected to field first with Mohammad Shahzad scoring 40 runs from 37 runs.

Shahzad was the highest scorer among the other batsmen and managed to hit two 5 fours by opening the batting innings for Afghanistan.

Usman Ghani scored 26 runs, Samiullah Shenwari 36 runs, Shafiqullah 24 runs, Asghar Stanikzai 25 runs, Rashid Khan 6 runs, and Najibullah Zadran 2 runs.

Afghanistan lost eight wickets to score 167 runs from 20 overs but the Bangladesh team could not chase the given target and lost all their wickets by scoring 122 runs from 19 overs.

Rashid Khan and Shapoor Zadran each took three wickets, Mohammad Nabi 2 wickets while Karim janat and Mujeeb Ur Rehman took one wicket each to restrict the Bangladesh team.

At the end, Rashid Khan was awarded the man of the match award for his outstanding perform on batting side. He took 3 wickets from 3 overs against 13 runs only.
