10547517_917503104942185_8058150170822053501_nThe Afghanistan national cricket team is bringing home the Zimbabwe series trophy after it was declared winner of the tour by leveling the One Day International (ODI) and unofficial test matches.

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said Wednesday that the national team, comprised of 16 players will arrive home on Thursday after concluding the series.

ACB officials said Afghanistan was declared winner of the series after the Afghan team won two One Day International (ODI) and one unofficial test match against a test playing nation.

The officials further added that Afghanistan leveled the series with higher points and was awarded the series trophy.

Afghanistan tour of Zimbabwe was organized with an aim to prepare the Afghan team for the upcoming ICC World Cup which is due to be held next year.

According to ACB officials, the series was a major event for the Afghan cricket team to further boost their skills for the ICC World Cup.

Afghanistan national cricket team is also expected to travel to Australia and New Zealand in September and October, in a bid to prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
