Afghanistan cricket defeats ACT Comets by 3 wickets

Nawroz MangalThe Afghanistan national cricket team defeated ACT Comets during the ICC Cricket World Cup Associate Warm-up Matches on Friday.

Afghanistan restricted all ACT Comets batsmen to 266 runs in 49 overs, with Aftab Alam taking 4 wickets, Yamin Ahmadzai 2 wickets and Mohammad Nabi, Glbadin Naib and Rahmat Shah one wicket each.

The game was part of Afghanistan’s ICC High Performance Programme Tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Afghanistan pulled off a thrilling three-wicket victory over ACT Comets in the final over of the game, with Nawroz Mangal’s gritty half-century to chase down the target in 49.2 overs.

The former captain made 85 runs from 100 balls by hitting 6 fours and 1 six. Usman Ghani made 27 runs, Hasmatullah Shahidi 20 runs, Nasir Jamal 41 runs, Mohammad Nabi 6 runs, Shafiqullah 22 runs, Gulbadin Naib 22 runs, while Rahmat Shah remained not out after scoring 3 runs along with Samiullah Shnwari who scored 31 runs.

Afghanistan lost two matches against Western Australia XI cricket club on September 21st and 23rd. Afghanistan is expecting to face New South Wales Second XI during it’s fourth match on Sunday.
