The Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan confirmed the first positive case of Coronavirus in western Herat province of Afghanistan.
Ferozuddin Feroz, the Minister of Public Health of Afghanistan on Monday confirmed that the authorities have recorded the first positive case of Coronavirus in Herat.
Feroz further added that the Ministry of Public Health has announced an emergency situation in Herat after recording the first positive case of Coronavirus which followed after the authorities recorded three suspected cases.
The outbreak of Coronavirus in Herat likely has links with the outbreak of the virus in Qom of Iran where the authorities confirmed that two people have died of the disease.
Ahmad Amir Nezhad, a provincial public health official had earlier said three individuals having signs of Coronavirus have returned to Afghanistan from Qom of Iran.
He said the authorities have collected samples from the three patients which they have sent to Kabul for further examinations.
Furthermore, Amir Nezhad said the authorities have isolated 36 people who recently arrived to Herat from Qom of Iran. However, he said the isolated individuals do not have sign of Coronavirus.
