The third season of the Afghanistan Football Champions League kicked off today, Sunday, April 20th, in Kabul, with the participation of twelve teams from various provinces.

The league officially commenced today, Sunday, April 20th, with the presence of officials from the Afghanistan Football Federation and the organization of two matches.

In the first round of these competitions, the teams of Abu Muslim and Sar Sabzi Yashlar faced off, with the next match scheduled between the teams of Khorasan Farayab and the Red Khafi.

Mohammad Yousuf Kargar, the head of the Afghanistan Football Federation, stated during the league’s opening ceremony that this year’s competitions are different from previous years, with the presence of foreign players in the matches.

“We have a different league today than the previous leagues, as there was no nationwide security in Afghanistan during the last 40 years,” Kakar said. “Fortunately, with this nationwide security, today foreign players are present in the squads of football teams in Afghanistan. Players from Africa, Iran and Pakistan are included in the football squads in Afghanistan.”

He also expressed satisfaction with ensuring security for organizing football matches.

Officials highlighted Afghanistan’s notable accomplishments in sports, underscoring their commitment to its ongoing development.

The triumph of the Afghanistan national football team over India marks a significant milestone in our sports journey. Hopefully, we are committed to furthering our sporting endeavors, extending from the heart of our nation to its farthest corners.

Ahmadullah Wasiq, the general director of physical education and sports, emphasized our dedication to expanding sports across provinces and districts, fostering widespread participation.
