The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 91 runs during their first match of Asia Cup tonight.

Played at Abdu Dhabi of United Arab Emirates, the Afghanistan cricket won the toss elected to bat first against Sri Lanka.

Rahmat Shah shined on the batting side for Afghanistan and scored the highest runs, 72 runs from 90 balls, by hitting 5 fours.

Other batsmen, Mohammad Shahzad scored 34 runs, Ihsanullah 45 runs, Hashmatullah Shahid 37 runs, Mohamad Nabi 15 runs, Najibullah Zadran 12 runs, Rashid Khan 13 runs, and Aftab Alam 7 runs.

However, the Sri Lankan batsmen could not chase the given target and lost all their wickets by scoring 158 runs only during the 41st over of the game.

Rashid Khan took 2 wickets on the bowling side, Mujeeb Ur Rehman 2 wickets, Mohammad Nabi 2 wickets, and Gulbadin Naib 2 wickets to restrict the Sri Lankan batsmen.
