Afghan govt delegation may hold talks with Taliban in Oslo Forum

MohaqiqA delegation representing the government of Afghanistan left for Norway to hold talks on reconciliation process during the Oslo Forum.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Ahmad Shekib Mostaghni said Monday that the delegation is led by Mohammad Mohaqiq, second deputy to Chief Executive Officer.

He said deputy foreign affairs minister on political affairs Hekmat Khalil Karzai is also part of the delegation who are visiting Oslo based on formal invitation by the government of Norway.

The former speaker for the Lower House of the Parliament Mohammad Younus Qanooni, former women’s affairs minister Husn Banu Ghazanfar, former minister of trade and commerce Anwar-ul-haq Ahadi and a member of the high peace council are also part of the delegation, he added.

According to Moshtaghni, the delegation may hold talks with the Taliban representatives who are expected to attend the forum.

The Oslo Forum is scheduled to open on Tuesday and will have sessions for two days which will focus on peace in different parts of the world.

The forum is co-hosted by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and the Geneva-based Center for Humanitarian Dialogue.
