The 4th Special Operations Kandak of the Afghan National Army Special Forces and Afghan National Army soldiers killed seven armed insurgents and reduced homemade explosives in Bala Baluk district, Farah Province, June 10.
The combined forces were conducting a cordon and search operation to deny insurgents a safe haven in Shewan village.
Insurgents attacked the Commandos and ANA with assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades. The Afghan forces fired organic weapons and, after the engagement, recovered a vehicle-born improvised explosive device, two AK-47s, two PKMs, and one RPG launcher.
“Today’s Afghan-led operation shows the strong ANASF and ANA partnership in Farah province,” said Col. Farid Ahmadi, 2nd Special Operations Brigade Commander. “The operation’s success demonstrates the Afghan security forces’ commitment and ability to protect our people.”
Without causing harm to civilians or nearby structures, the 4th SOK and ANA destroyed the VBIED and weapons.
