The Afghan Special Forces have inflicted casualties on Taliban militants in northern Kunduz and southern Helmand provinces.

The military sources said Saturday that the Afghan Special Forces conducted an operation in Khanabad district of Kunduz province.

The sources further added that the Special Forces killed one Taliban fighter, wounded three others and arrested a suspected militant.

Similarly, the Afghan Special Forces conducted an operation in Nad-e-Ali district of Helmand province and killed one Taliban fighter.

Furthermore, the Special Forces arrested five suspected militants during the same operation, the sources added.

The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the two operations so far.

Both Kunduz and Helmand are among the volatile provinces in northern and southern parts of Afghanistan.

Taliban militants are active in some remote and restive areas of the two provinces and often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities.

In the meantime, the Afghan forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations against both groups in the two provinces.

The U.S. forces also conduct regular airstrikes in restive districts and provinces to suppress Taliban and other anti-government militants.
