
The Special Forces of the Afghan intelligence destroyed a large cache of weapons and munitions belonging to Taliban group in Uruzgan province.
The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), in a statement said Friday that the cache belonged to Taliban’s deputy shadow governor Mullah Atiqullah.
The statement further added that 13 militants were also killed during the same operation and 10 rocket launchers, 8 rocket launchers (82mm), 13 PKM machine guns, 23 M-16 rifles, 170 rounds of rocket launcher rockets, 23 rounds of 82mm rockets, 18 Ak-47 assault rifles, 6 Dragunov sniper rifles, 3 motorcycles, 25 radio sets, and 500 kgs of explosives were confiscated and four depots of the militants were totally destroyed.
The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the airstrike so far.
Uruzgan is among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan. Taliban militants are active in some of the restive districts of the province including Tainkot and often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.
