Afghan Defense Ministry following a press release on Saturday announced at least 2 Afghan National Army soldiers were injured while conducting their duties in southern Kandahar western Herat provinces of Afghanistan.

The source further added, Afghan National Army soldiers also seized some weapons and ammunitions during military operations.

The two Afghan army soldiers were injured at Maiwand district of southern Helmand province and Gulistan district of western Herat province.

Defense officials did not disclose further information on how the two soldiers were injured.

Afghan National Army soldiers seized a vehicle being used by the militants, 34 improvised explosive devices, 2 AK-47 assault rifles, a machine gun, 3 magazines of ammunitions, 2 hand grenades, 6 kilograms of explosives and some other explosives during Omid-1 military operation at Greshk district of southern Helmand province, defense officials added.

In a separate operation at Khwaja Omeri district of eastern Ghazni province Afghan army soldiers seized a Toyota Corolla and Town Ace vehicles along with 2 motorcycles, 3 improvised explosive devices, 160 rounds of AK-47 ammunitions, 1 kilogram Hashish, 1 mortar missile and a Ranger police vehicle.

The officials also added, Afghan army soldiers seized 3 improvised explosive device from Zherai district of southern Kandahar province and 8 improvised explosive device from Mosa Qala district of southern Helmand province.

Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regarding the operations.
