According to French Defense officials, the assailant Afghan National Army soldier which killed at least four French troops on Friday, had visited Pakistan ahead of carrying out the attack on French troops in eastern Kapisa province.
French Defense Minister Gérard Longuet following the death of four French troops visited Afghanistan on Saturday in a bid to launch probes into the incident.
The assailant Afghan National Army soldier was recognized as Abdul Saboor who had been serving in Afghan National Army during the past 2 months.
At least 16 other French troops were also reported injured following the shootout by Afghan Army soldier which took place inside a French military base in eastern Kapisa province on Friday.
