Afghan senate appreciates cricket teamThe Afghanistan Senate House, Upper House of the Parliament (Meshrano Jirga), appreciated the Afghanistan National Cricket Team and Cricket Board officials for their performance in the recent ICC Twenty20 World Cup.

The Afghan Senate House Secretariat Director Eng. Syed Hafizullah Hashemi welcomed the Afghan team and board officials to the Senate House.

He appreciated the Afghan team and board officials for their recent achievements on domestic and international level, saying the cricket team’s achievement domestically has been unique and the victories in the ICC World T20 has been a honor for the Afghan nation.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Nasimullah Danish thanked the Afghan Senate House leadership and senate members for appreciating the Afghan cricket team and board, saying the Afghanistan cricket is moving ahead with more morale of support from the nation and elders.

The Afghan team started its World Cup campaign in ICC World Twenty20 by participating in the qualifying group stage and securing consecutive wins.

Amid hopes of setting upsets during their campaign together with the world’s leading teams, the Afghan team started their campaign against the defending champions Sri Lanka in first match of Super 10s.

Afghanistan lost the first three matches in Super 10 but secured a historic win against West Indies in their last match of the group, a victory which was warmly welcomed both by the Afghan and international game spectators.
