Afghan security forces foil missile attack in Kabul city

_71233642_71233641The Afghan national security forces thwarted missile attack plot in capital Kabul, which was aimed to disturb the national grand council (Loya Jirga).

 The national directorate of security (NDS) following a statement announced on Monday that the Afghan security forces seized at least 10 missiles during a joint operation in Khak-e-Jabar district of Kabul city.

The statement further added that the operation was jointly conducted by Afghan intelligence forces, in coordination with the Afghan army and Afghan national police forces.

NDS in its statement also added that the militants were looking to target Afghan presidential palace, Afghan defense ministry and Kabul International airport.

Afghan security forces also arrested a suspected militant in connection to the attack plot, who has been recognized as Abdul Halim, and is the shadow district governor of Taliban in Khak-e-Jabar, NDS added in its statement.

Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief, Rahmatullah Nabeel also said on Sunday that significant security threats were threatening the national grand council (Loya Jirga).

Mr. Nabeel also added that militant groups in Afghanistan and outside the country were plotting to attack the Loya Jirga gathering.
