Afghan refugeesThe Afghan refugees residing in Lower Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan have been ordered to leave the area within the next three days.

According to political administration of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), the notification was recently released asking the Afghan refugees to leave the country in three days.

The administration has also asked the local residents to prevent renting houses to the Afghan refugees.

Following a deadly attack on an army-run school in Peshawar city of Pakistan, the federal government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa set a deadline for the expulsion of Afghan refugees on 20th December last year.

The provincial government spokesman Mushtaq Ghani quoted by local media agencies, said the Afghan refugees will be expelled from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after a month.

Ghani further added that the government can no longer afford refugees, insisting that the “time has come for the federal government to take practical steps for the repatriation of the refugees.”

According to Ghani, the federal government would work out a roadmap to keep the Afghan refugees out of urban cities.

Over 130 school children were massacred following an attack at the Army Public School on 16th December on Warsak Road in Peshawar.
