The Afghanistan National Cricket team Head Coach Phil Simmons says the Afghan players must show patience during the historic Test match against India.

Simmons is optimistic regarding the better performance to be put on display by the Afghan spinners, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rehman, during the historic match.

However, he said the two bowlers must show patience along with the other athletes, including batsmen.

“It is about them (Rashid and Mujeeb) showing patience too along with our batsmen. Rashid did well against Ireland in four day cricket last year. He got wickets. He played against practice games against England and he got wickets,” he was quoted as saying by the local media outlets.

“Rashid is all of 19 but he has got the mind of a 30-year-old. He knows exactly what is expected of him,” he added.

The historic test match between India and Afghanistan will kick off on 14th of June and will be hosted in Begaluru.

This will be Afghanistan’s first Test match after obtaining the Test status from the International Cricket Council.
