Afghan parliament unanimously rejects draft national budget

Afghan-parliament-violenceLawmakers in the Lower House of Parliament – Wolesi Jirga, unanimously rejected the draft national budget for the year 2015.

The lawmakers said they rejected the draft national budget, calling it unbalanced and insisting that the allocation of funds were unfair and unjustified.

The draft national budget was sent to the Upper House of the Parliament – Meshrano Jirga last month. However, the draft budget was forwarded to lower house without approval.

According to the Ministry of Finance officials, the proposed draft budget was balanced, economical, transparent adn based on national interests.

The draft budget for the forthcoming fiscal year is estimated to be around 458.8 billion AFN, which includes 275 billion AFN for the ordinary budget and 183 billion AFN for development budget.
