Head of the operations department in provincial governor office at Herat province was arrested by Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) over espionage charges to neighboring Iran.
Provincial governor Dr. Daud Saba confirming the report said the detained individual was being monitored by Afghan intelligence officers and was arrested over anti-government activities.
Mr. Saba denied his links with the suspected spy of Iran.
This comes as several individuals have been arrested by Afghan security forces over espionage charges to neighboring Iran during the past one year.
In the meantime a local official speaking on the condition of anonymity said head of the operations department at Herat provincial governor office Yousuf Azizi was arrested in Islam Qala port while he was looking to transfer a number of confidential documents to Iranian officials.
The source further added Mr. Yousufi was working in the provincial governor office during the past five years and was an ordinary employee while Syed Hussain Anwari was the provincial governor of Herat province.
Iranian Council in Herat province and embassy in capital Kabul yet to comment regarding the report.



well i think there are more than 1000s of Afghan employees who works as spy to Iran and most of them have been arrested but none of them have been punished.
