Afghan MP rejects allegation of sexually assaulting dancer in Peshawar

ShirAn Afghan parliamentarian who has been accused of sexually assaulting a female dancer in Peshawar city of Pakistan said on Sunday that his enemies are spreading propaganda against him.

While talking to a press conference in Kabul, Haji Shir Ali Ahmadzai said that certain people are trying to damage his image.

Ahmadzai, who represents Kuchis (nomads) at the Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of the Parliament, criticized local media for publishing the negative news without consulting with him for comments.

He said those who have published the news need to apologize.

The news broke out in a number of local and foreign media outlets on Friday stating that a dancing girl has registered rape case against Shir Ali in Peshawar.

According to reports, the dancing girl was invited for performance but later subjected to rape.

Reports added that police searched Shir Ali’s residence in Hayatabad Phase II following the complaint but he had already escaped leaving a passport and other documents behind.
