violence against womenAn Afghan man has cut his 22-year-old wife’s nose in central Daikundi province of Afghanistan, local officials said.

The victim was recognized as Gul Chaman who was subject to violence and torture during the past several months.

Provincial women’s affairs chief, Zakia Rezaye confirmed that the Gul Chaman’s nails were also taken out by her husband.

She is currently being treated in a hospital in Daikundi province and will be taken to capital Kabul for treatment.

Gul Chaman, the mother of a 6-year-old daughter has said her husband was also looking to behead her.

Her husband has manged to flee the area after cutting her nose, the officials said.

The main reason that motivated Gul Chaman’s husband to cut her nose is not clear so far. However, poverty, addiction to drugs, impunity and improper implementation of violence against women act are believed to be the main reasons behind growing violence against women in Afghanistan.
