suicide bombers arrested in AfghanistanAt least five suspected insurgents were arrested along with three motorcycle borne improvised explosive device in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan.

The Afghan Intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) following a statement said Sunday that the militants were looking to carry out coordinated attacks in Khanshin district of Helmand province.

The statement further added that Afghan intelligence operatives seized 3 motorcycle borne improvised explosive device, along with an RPG, 1 heavy machine gun, 9 AK-47 rifles along with 47 magazines, 25 improvised explosive device (IED) and two sets of communication devices.

NDS in its statement also added that the Afghan intelligence have launched an investigation from the detained militants.

According to the NDS officials, the militants have confessed that they have received trainings on how to carry out insurgency activities on the other side of the border.

Anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

Helmand is among the restives provinces in southern Afghanistan, where Taliban militants and insurgents from the other militant groups are openly operating in a number of its districts.

The militants frequently carry out insurgency attacks against the Afghan and coalition security forces, and Afghan government officials in this province.
