The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), confirmed the arrest of a local uprising commander Alipur alia commander Shamsher in Kabul.
According to a statement released by NDS, commander Alipur was arrested from Qala Qazi area of the city on Sunday.
The statement further added that commander Alipur has been arrested on charges of illegal armed activities, extortion, and attacks on Afghan security forces.
Eyewitnesses said Sunday that Commander Alipur was detained by the National Directorate of Security forces from Qala Qazi area of the city on Sunday morning.
His arrest sparked protests in Kabul city which immediately turned violent after the demonstrators clashed with the police forces.
The security officials are saying at least twenty policemen have sustained injuries in yesterday’s violent protests.
