Afghan intelligence arrest 2 suicide bombers in Kandahar

Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate for Security officials on Saturday announced Afghan security forces detained two suspected suicide bombers in southern Kandahar province.

The officials further added the two suicide bombers were looking to carry out suicide attacks in southern Kandahar city.

Provincial NDS official said Afghan security forces detained the two suicide bombers in Spin Boldak district, near the Pakistan border.

The detained suicide bombers confessed to their crimes and said they were trained to carry out insurgency activities in neighboring Pakistan and had recently visited southern Kandahar province to carry out suicide blast, NDS officials said.

In the meantime provincial NDS officials said they have arrested two Taliban facilitators in a separate operation in this province.

Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regarding the reports.
