Afghan govt approves new contracts worth around 2.3 billion

The Afghan government has approved five new contracts having a total value of around 2.3 billion Afghanis, the ARG Presidential Palace said Monday.

According to a statement released by ARG Palace, the new contracts were approved during the recent meeting of the national procurement commission chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

The statement further added that the contracts approved during the meeting include 220kV electricity transmission line between Doshi and Bamiyan, project for the distribution of salaries through mobile services, and construction of the compound for the quality check of medical products Herat laboratory.

Other contracts approved during the meeting include procurement of fuel for the Afghan intelligence central command and other divisions, and contract for the installation of PBX and CISCO telephone system in the office of the chief of staff of the ministry of defense.

According to the ARG Palace, the meeting also approved 15% modification in the fuel delivery contract for the Salang maintenance project.

The meeting also reviewed the construction of 7km road from Kabul to Logar but the project was not approved and it was decided that the procurement related works of the project should be referred to the ministry of public works.
