Afghan forces thwart rocket attack on Kabul city

The security officials in Kabul are saying that the security forces have thwarted a plot by the anti-government armed militants to carry out rocket attack on Kabul city.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials are saying that the security forces discovered and confiscated a rocket from Qarabagh district befor the militants manage to fire it on the city.

The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban militants have not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as the anti-government armed militants have been attempting to carry out attacks in key provinces and cities of the country as part of their spring offenssive.

A suicide bomber was shot dead in Shahr Naw area of the city this morning before he manage to carry out an attack.

Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai confirmed the incident has taken place close to Shahr Naw park at around 11:30 am local time.

Stanikzai further added that a suicide bomber who was looking to target a blood donation camp was shot dead before he manage to reach to his target.

He also added that only the suicide bomber has been killed and no one else has been hurt in the incident.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
