The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have thwarted a plot by the militants to carry out a deadly explosion in Kabul city.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials are saying that the militants were looking to detonate explosives on a roadside in the vicinity of the 17th police district of the city in Ghaibi Baba Township.

The officials further added that the security forces have confiscated ten kgs of explosives along with an artillery shell and other types of explosives from the area.

The CID officials said Friday that the Afghan forces have thwarted a plot by the anti-government armed militants to carry out a rocket attack on Kabul.

The officials further added that the militants were looking to target the city with a BM-1 rocket from Chahar Asiab district.

According to the officials, the rocket along with a mobile phone device was discovered from the vicinity of Char Asiab district before the militants manage to carry out an attack.

This comes as the anti-government armed groups are attempting to carry out attacks in the key provinces and cities of the country during the recent months.

At least six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were wounded in an explosion in Kabul city on Wednesday morning.
