Tuesday, December 27, 2011 – Afghan and NATO-led International Security Assistance Force officials are due to start the security transition process from the NATO-led coalition forces to Afghan National Security forces in Daikundi and Samangan provinces.

The security transition process for the named provinces is scheduled to be launched by 28 December 2011.

The second phase of security transition from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force to Afghan security forces was formally initiated following an inauguration ceremony in northern Parwan province earlier in December.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the interior affairs and defense ministers and foreign diplomats including the US ambassador to Afghanistan, NATO commander in Afghanistan.

The security transition was implemented in all districts and regions of northern Parwan province except Shinwari and Siagerd districts.
