The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces successfully repulsed rocket attack on Kandahar airfield earlier today.

Kandahar Police Chief Gen. Tadin Khan Achakzai said the security forces arrested three militants in connection to the attack.

Gen. Tadin Khan further added that the militant unsuccessfully launched one rocket on the airfield.

He said the security forces managed to spot the launching site and defused another rocket besides arresting three militants.

“Taliban shot rockets at #Kandahar air field this morning. The attack was not success. #ANDSF responded. Found rocket firing spot & diffused 1 rocket. Detained 3 men linked to attack. No disruption to Kandahar air travel. ANDSF works to make safety for Afghan people,” Gen. Tadin Khan said a statement posted on Twitter.
