Afghan forces repulse Taliban attack in Faryab leaving 11 militants dead

The Afghan security forces repulsed an attack by Taliban militants in northern Faryab province leaving at least 11 militants dead.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said the Taliban militants launched a coordinated attack on security outposts in Khwaja Namosi village of Pashtun Kot district.

According a statement released by 209th Shaheen Corps, the attack was launched at around 10:30pm local time which was repulsed by the armed forces.

The statement further added that 11 militants were killed and 23 others were wounded during the clashes with the security forces.

The militants who were killed or wounded during the clashes belonged to Taliban’s military commission chief for Pashtun Kot and Mullah Makhdom and deputy shadow governor of Taliban Mullah Abdul Samad, the 209th Shaheen Corps added.

The statement also added that the security forces and local residents did not suffer casualties during the clashes.

The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented in this regard so far.
