The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces conducted an operation in northern Baghlan province late on Saturday night killing at least 8 anti-government armed militants.
Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said Sunday that the operation was jointly conducted by the security personnel belonging to various security and defense institutions of the country.
He said the security and armed forces targeted the militants in Baghlan-e-Markazi district killing at least eight of them and wounding four others.
Rahimi further added that more than ten villages were also cleared of militants during the same operation. The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the operation so far.

Baghlan is among the relatively volatile provinces in North of Afghanistan. Taliban militants are active in some of the restive districts of the province where they often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.
