The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces destroyed a large amount of Improvised Explosive Devices and Explosives components in southern Helmand province.

The informed military sources said the Afghan Special Forces destroyed a large amount of IEDs and explosive components during a raid in Helmand.

Furthermore, the 3rd Brigade of the 215th Corps conducted clearing operations along Highway 1 in Helmand.

The sources further added that the soldiers of the 3rd Brigade of 215th Corps defused 19 IEDs.

The soldiers of the 3rd Brigade also destroyed multiple Taliban facilities during the same operation, the military sources added.

Taliban militants and other terrorists frequently use improvised explosive devices as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces.

However, in majority of such attacks ordinary civilians are targeted.

Meanwhile, numerous incidents have also taken place in the past involving premature IED explosions.

The premature IED explosions have also inflicted casualties on Taliban militants who were manufacturing or planting bombs.
