Commandos of Afghan National Army have killed three senior Taliban commanders in western Heart province.

Nasiruddin Nastu Nasir, a spokesman for special operations in Herat province said that the Taliban commanders were killed during a precise operation in Adraskan District last night.

He said those killed in the operation included Mullah Nasir who was Taliban’s shadow governor for Farsi District, head of the militant group’s security commission and the commander responsible for planting landmines in this district.

Nasir added that the operation was conducted to target Taliban’s den where the group was hiding.

Afghan National Security Forces began an all-out hunt for terrorists after taking full responsibility of security for the country at the beginning of this year.

Hundreds of terrorists have been killed and their hideouts destroyed during these operations.

Afghan forces also recaptured areas in these five months the insurgents controlled for years.
