Some candidates staged a demonstration on Wednesday against widespread electoral frauds in the capital Kabul and eastern Nangarhar province
The protesting candidates argued that huge frauds were organised in the elections by some influential candidates.
They called the elections illegitimate and asked for fresh elections.
The Independent Election Commission has failed fulfilling its duty and Electoral Complaint Commission is also involved in huge electoral frauds, they claimed.
“It was not elections. It was a huge organised fraud,” said a protesting candidate in Kabul, Noor-u-l Haq Ulomi. “Through the demonstration we want to protest the elections, because it was not elections, but a huge and organised fraud. The elections must be announced illegitimate.”
Another candidate, Abdul Kabir Ranjbar said: “We demand that the illegal and illegitimate elections must be announced invalid.”
In eastern Nangarhar province, some provincial candidates also protested and said their complaints should be addressed.
The protesting candidates have said until the electoral frauds are not investigated seriously, they will continue their demonstrations.
The candidates demonstrated as the Attorney General’s Office once again set another 12-hour deadline on IEC to let the organisation carry out its probes on invalid votes.
