For a second day, a number of Afghan parliamentary candidates have staged demonstrations against elections and want it to be re-held

The candidates Wednesday claimed that widespread corruption by power holders, candidates and Independent Election Commission has hugely affected the elections.

They insisted that the elections should be re-held.

The protesting candidates have rallied in front of the UNAMA in Kabul and said the Independent Election Commission has failed in fulfilling its duty.

They also accused the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) of being involved in electoral fraud.

An election candidate, Hafiz-u-Rahman told a TOLOnews reporter: “the IEC and ECC have announced invalid votes of power holders as valid.”

The protesting candidates, in a resolution, call on the Independent Election Commission to consider their complaints.

The ECC Tuesday delisted two winning candidates on charges of fraud, and it is expected to delist some other candidates in the weeks ahead.
