The Afghan military in the North reported a clash between the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces and the Taliban militants in northern Balkh province.

The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said a clash broke out between Afghan forces and Taliban militants in Qala-e Barbar area of Dawlatbad district on Tuesday night.

The statement further added that the security forces killed 2 Taliban militants and wounded 2 others during overnight clash.

The Taliban group has not commented regarding the clash so far.

This comes as U.S. signed a peace with the Taliban group after observing a 7-day reduction in violence, aimed at finding a political solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.

The two sides signed the contracts after 18-month long negotiations hosted by the government of Qatar in Doha, the capital city the country.
